Israel’s military said it launched a barrage of strikes against Hezbollah targets deep in southern Lebanon on Tuesday. Tensions are rising across the region amid a spate of military activity, including Israel’s continued strikes in Gaza and tit-for-tat exchanges with Hezbollah; a strike on a Maltese-flagged vessel by Yemen’s Houthis, who are attacking ships in the Red Sea in support of Gaza; a new round of U.S. strikes on what officials said were Houthi missile sites in Yemen and strikes by Iran on what it said was an Israeli intelligence site in Iraq and a militant site in Pakistan, to which both countries immediately objected.
