Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas accepted the resignation of his prime minister and cabinet Monday, according to the president’s office, opening the door for a new technocratic administration. Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said new “political arrangements” were necessary to achieve “inter-Palestinian consensus.” The United States and Arab allies have been seeking to revitalize the governing body in hopes it can take on a role in Gaza following the war.
